The Story
Sissi sits on Via Galilei in Merano, named — inevitably — for the Empress who came here to take the waters. The restaurant earned its Michelin star under Chef Andrea Fenoglio, who arrived from Piedmont with a rigorous technique and a genuine curiosity about what South Tyrol produces.
The cooking here is not the traditional Südtiroler kitchen of knödel and Lagrein sauce. It is something more considered: produce from the Merano valley and the mountains above it, treated with a precision that makes each course feel like a decision rather than a habit. The seven-course SETTEPIATTI menu changes with each year, designed around a concept. The five-course CINQUEPIATTI follows the season. There is also an à la carte — the same kitchen, slightly less commitment required.
Sommelier Arianna oversees a cellar of five hundred labels. The wine here is as serious as the food.
Philosophy
How we work.
South Tyrolean produce, Piedmontese rigour — Fenoglio's cooking is rooted in the valley and the mountains above Merano, treated with the precision of a fine-dining kitchen
SETTEPIATTI: seven courses built around a single concept — a new menu each year, using custom ceramic tableware made for it
500 labels in the cellar — Sommelier Arianna's selection spans South Tyrol, Italy and beyond. The wine is as considered as the food.
Signature Dishes

SETTEPIATTI '25 — Seven courses
The avant-garde tasting menu — seven courses built around a concept that changes with each year, served on custom ceramic tableware. The fullest expression of Fenoglio's kitchen. €135.

CINQUEPIATTI — Five courses
The seasonal five-course menu — also available as CINQUEPIATTI VEGETARIANO. The season's produce, Fenoglio's technique, without the full commitment of seven courses. €125.

À La Carte — Three courses + dessert
The same kitchen, same produce, same Fenoglio — without the tasting menu structure. Starters €32, mains €42, desserts €16. Full à la carte from €115.

The wine cellar — 500 labels with Sommelier Arianna
South Tyrolean, Italian, and international. Arianna's cellar is one of the most serious in Merano — the pairing menus are a good way in.
The Feeling
Feels like
Quiet, considered, and precise — the room is calm in the way that serious restaurants are calm. The service knows what it is doing. The focus is entirely on the plate.
Best time
Dinner — when the tasting menu can be given the full evening it deserves
Music
Minimal — the kitchen speaks louder.
Perfect for
The CinCin Notes
Sissi is the reason to spend an evening in Merano properly — not just a long lunch on a terrace, but a table, a menu, a cellar, and a kitchen that has earned its star doing something specific to this valley.
Fenoglio's cooking is not showy. It is exact. The SETTEPIATTI is the menu to book — seven courses built around a single idea, with tableware made for the occasion. If you're two people who take wine seriously, let Arianna build the pairing.
