Chesa Marchetta is a small, seasonal hotel in Sils Maria — the Engadin village that sits apart from St. Moritz by both geography and character. The building is a traditional Chesa: thick stone walls, low pine ceilings, the silences and proportions of a house that has stood for centuries. It opens each summer in June and closes when the season ends.

“A genuine 16th-century Engadin Chesa in Sils Maria — one of the few original village houses operating as a hotel, with its own seasonal restaurant open to non-guests.”

Wellness & Activities
No spa. The wellness here is the Engadin itself — morning walks along the Silsersee, the altitude air, the silence of a village that has resisted the noise that found St. Moritz.
Your time here
What your days could look like
Wake to the Alps visible through the window. Breakfast in the Chesa. A morning walk to the peninsula that divides Lake Sils from Lake Silvaplana — one of the most beautiful short walks in the Engadin. Back for lunch at the upstairs bar. An afternoon with a book in the garden or on the balcony. Dinner as the light goes long and golden over the lake, with a glass of Graubünden wine and no reason to be anywhere else.

People
The Hosts
Chesa Marchetta operates as a seasonal house — not a year-round hotel chasing occupancy, but a place that opens when the Engadin summer is worth being in and closes when it ends. That decision shapes everything about the experience: the focus on the restaurant, the quality of what the kitchen produces, the unhurried character of the house.

Sils Maria, Engadin · 20 min from St. Moritz
Sils Maria sits at the southwestern end of the Upper Engadin, between Lake Sils and Lake Silvaplana. The landscape is extraordinary: two lakes, high alpine meadows, and the Maloja Pass dropping into the Italian-speaking valleys of Bregaglia. Nietzsche summered here for seven consecutive years; the house where he stayed is now a museum. The hiking from the village is among the finest in Switzerland.
