A house that isn't loud, but deliberately quiet. No classic luxury feel — the Schwarzschmied works through balance: movement and rest, design and groundedness. Holistically conceived and set in the orchards of South Tyrol, it addresses body and mind in equal measure.

Our take
Why we love it
Yoga and wellness here aren't extras — they are the actual concept, with a dedicated retreat programme, workshops, and health offerings.
Family-run, with a genuine focus on sustainability and holistic wellbeing — you can feel this isn't a marketing phrase.
Lana is not Merano — quieter, less touristic, surrounded by orchards. A setting that perfectly supports the hotel's concept.
The rooms are deliberately restrained: no wow-effect, but lasting quality of stay. Light, quiet, connection to the outside.
Nutrition as part of the concept — healthy, seasonal, regional cuisine that feels like part of the experience, not a restriction.
Food & Drink

What reaches the plate mostly grows within sight — Slow Food from the hotel's own Arnica field and farms in the neighbourhood.
La Fucina
La Fucina — The Forge — is the Schwarzschmied's restaurant, where head chef Andreas Pircher translates the philosophy of the house into food. Using the freshest ingredients, he creates refined, culinarily adventurous dishes: vegetarian, vegan, lactose-free and gluten-free — without compromising on pleasure. "A health-conscious, balanced kitchen means for me a diverse menu that also offers vegetarian, vegan, lactose-free and gluten-free dishes, prepared from the freshest ingredients, without sacrificing enjoyment." — Andreas Pircher, Head Chef Breakfast: 07.30–11.00 · Dinner: 18.30–20.30 Current menu: schwarzschmied.com
Farm to Table
What lands on the plate mostly grows within sight. The Arnica Acker directly beside the property supplies seasonal vegetables, herbs and fruit. The suppliers are not strangers: Franz Marsoner from Halsmannhof brings organic goat's cheese from the Ultental. Eggs come from Phillip Thoma, whose chickens roam freely at 1,200 metres. Sheep's cheese and yoghurt are delivered by the Kapauer family from St. Pankraz, bread by Schmiedl from Lana. Coffee is roasted by Valentin Hofer at Caroma in Völs, tea comes from the Südtiroler Kräuterrebellen in Mals. A short supply chain — and you can taste it.
Bistro Luce
It sounds like that scene from a black-and-white film. You wish, we serve. Whenever you like. Our Slow Food philosophy — back to nature — extends to the Bistro Luce snack menu. Whether a Rhubarb Spritz, Woodruff Spritz, classic Aperol Spritz or an elegant glass of South Tyrolean Arunda Sekt from Mölten, the bar offers a thoughtful selection of drinks alongside light snacks and small dishes for easy hours between meals. Snacks & Small Dishes: 12:00–17:00 · Bar: 8:00 until midnight

Yoga & Wellness
Movement and stillness — the actual concept
Yoga and retreats are not an add-on here — they are the reason the house exists. A dedicated retreat programme, workshops and holistic health offerings sit at the centre; nutrition, space and programming all follow the same philosophy.
Around them: an indoor pool, a heated outdoor pool set among the vines, a Finnish sauna and quiet rest areas. Wellness understood as deceleration, not a checklist — movement and stillness in balance.

Lana & the Orchards
Quieter than Merano, set among vines and mountains
Lana sits just below Merano, set among apple orchards and vines, with the Texel group and the Adige valley all around. Quieter and less touristic than the spa town — a setting that carries the concept of the house.
On the doorstep: the Marlinger Waalweg irrigation path, hiking trails, wine villages and the cable car up to San Vigilio. Merano is minutes away, Bolzano about half an hour.

Residence Small
The smallest category, designed for slower stays rather than excess space. Compact yet warm, with a quiet and intimate atmosphere that feels more like a private retreat than a traditional hotel room.

Why We Keep Coming Back to Farmhouses
Farmhouses leave no loud memory. They settle in slowly — and often stay longer than the most spectacular hotels in the world.
