Giardino Ascona
Giardino Ascona is not a classic grand hotel but a garden you live inside. In the heart of Ticino, minutes from Lake Maggiore, the house sits within a lush Mediterranean park — palms, cypresses, water-lily ponds, colour everywhere. Indoors, Italian ease meets Swiss precision: warm, playful, high quality, but never stiff. A place where luxury sounds more like joie de vivre than etiquette.

Our take
Why we love it
A real Mediterranean park in the middle of Switzerland — palms, cypresses, water-lily ponds. You don't stay in a hotel, you stay in a garden.
ECCO Ascona with two Michelin stars in the house — top-tier cuisine with no journey required.
Casual luxury, Ticino style: high quality but light; strong on design but warm. Luxury that sounds like joie de vivre.
The dipiù Spa: indoor and outdoor pools, sauna, hot tub — wellness in Mediterranean greenery rather than a basement.
Ascona itself: Lake Maggiore, the lakeside promenade, an Italian climate — and yet Swiss reliability.
Food & Drink

ECCO Ascona — two Michelin stars in the house itself, one of the region's finest kitchens, without ever leaving the park.
ECCO Ascona — 2 Michelin Stars
The culinary heart: ECCO Ascona, awarded two Michelin stars and 18 GaultMillau points. Chef Reto Brändli cooks a precise, product-led fine-dining cuisine in which clarity wins over effect. A table can be booked independently of a stay.
Hide & Seek
More playful and relaxed, but no less considered: Hide & Seek combines Mediterranean flavours with international refinement — creative plates to share in an easygoing setting. The informal answer to the fine dining next door.
Bar, Lounge & Pool Café
By day the park belongs to the bar, the garden lounge and the Pool Café: Mediterranean cooking, antipasti, aperitivo and seasonal summer specialities in the open air, looking onto the garden and the pool.

A Mediterranean Park
Living in the middle of the green
What sets Giardino Ascona apart is not inside the building but all around it: a lush, carefully tended Mediterranean park of palms, cypresses, olive trees and water-lily ponds. The garden is not a backdrop but the hotel itself — you breakfast in it, take your aperitivo in it, walk through it on the way to the pool.
This abundance owes everything to the southern setting: Ascona sits in the warmest corner of Switzerland, and the park makes the most of every degree. The result is a sense of the south and of distance, barely an hour's drive from the German-speaking part of the country.

Rooms & Suites
Southern charm, modern comfort
Fifty-three rooms and eighteen suites are spread across the house and the park — a symbiosis of southern charm and modern comfort. Warm colours, playful details and quality materials make for spaces that feel lived-in rather than ceremonial.
The categories follow the view: Casa Rosa overlooks the neighbouring golf course, Morning Sun faces the Ticino mountains, South Side looks onto the water-lily pond and garden. The junior suites and suites offer more space, some with their own slice of garden — the Mediterranean park as a constant companion just outside the door.

The dipiù Spa
Wellness, Mediterranean style
The dipiù Spa pairs wellness with a Mediterranean sense of life: indoor and outdoor pools, sauna, hot tub, a modern fitness studio, and a calm retreat where contemporary design meets natural materials.
The outdoor pool sits in the park, set into the greenery rather than a basement — swimming among palms, treatments to follow. A holistic spa experience that echoes the tone of the whole house: high quality, but light.

The Hosts
Giardino Ascona is the original house of the Giardino Group, opened in 1986 and ever since a byword for its own idea of luxury: southern, life-loving, design-led — and deliberately uncomplicated. Instead of grand-hotel formality, the house leans on atmosphere, garden and pleasure. The standard is high, but the tone stays light.

Location
Switzerland
Ascona, Ticino
Via del Segnale 10, 6612 Ascona, Switzerland
Ascona lies on the northern shore of Lake Maggiore, in Switzerland's southernmost tip — a Mediterranean climate, palm trees, an Italian sense of life with Swiss reliability. The famous lakeside promenade with its pastel houses and cafés is minutes away, as are Ascona's old town and the livelier Locarno. All around: hiking in the Ticino valleys (Verzasca, Maggia), boat trips on the lake, the Monte Verità plateau above the town. Milan-Malpensa airport is about 90 minutes away; Lugano is closer.
